Motorcycle Safety Riding Tips




1. Use your brain / Look and think - Look for cars pulling away from the curb running stop sign or making a left turn in front of you.

2. Anticipate / be prepared all the time - since you are riding your motorcycle which only happens to have two wheels, accident is always sure to come.

3. Get that training - Do not purchase a motorcycle without training first.





4. Skin is good - Get armored riding gear or wear protective gear all the time.

5. Wear proper boots - No tennis shoes, sandals or hiking boots. Shoe laces can get tangled in the brake or shifter levers, then you cant put your foot down, then you fall down.


6. Use your mirror and look over your shoulder when changing lane all the time.


7. Your Motorcycle STAND, is it up? Some bikes will cut the engine off if you try to ride with the kick stand down. If yours does not, check it before you take off, then check again.

8. Take care of your bike and it will take care of you. Wash it, Inspect it, Check its oil level and tire pressure.

T = Tires and wheels
C = Controls
L = Light and switches

O = Oil and fuel
C = Chain and chassis
K = Kick and side stand


- always do the following and you'll be safe riding your new bike.

9. Not in the middle - Ride in the right or left side of your lane - The middle of the the lane has oil grease and slippery stuff that decreases your bikes stopping power.


10. Stay in your lane your live longer - When riding the twisty roads, don't cross the double yellow lines.

11. Stay in gear until the car coming behind you stops, keep your bike in first gear and watch in your mirrors, if the car doesn't stop in time, you get out of the way.

12. Relax your arm - Do not ride with your arms stiff, set comfortably in the seat move forward in the seat and relax your arms.

13. Brakes - When slowing or stopping use both brakes. It can stop you in 1/3rd the distance, than just using your rear brakes.

14. Drive like the cars don't see you, because they usually don't.

15. When riding through heavy traffic, cover your front brake with a finger or two, when needed, squeeze gently.

16. Drinking and driving a car is stupid and dangerous. Drinking and driving a motorcycle is very stupid and more dangerous. Do not be very stupid and more dangerous.

17. There is nothing like experience - Ride often to keep your confidence and skill level up. The more you ride in all kinds of weather and road conditions, the better feel you will have for controlling your machine.

18. Don't be a hot dog or show off - Know your limits or your certainly going to find out .

Lets be safe out there, so we can enjoy more of riding our bike...I hope this Tips will help you guys who are planning to have a motorcycle. Knowledge is power and prevention is better than cure, don't ride your bike if your are not yet properly equip and ready. Most of the accidents happen in the roads nvolves motorcycle and a driver who know nothing about defensive driving.
